well i'm tiny. 5 foot 2 and at most 95lbs soaking wet. ne ways. i sit very close to the wheel. if ne thing was to happen and the air bag goes off, i have no doubt that i will get very hurt from the air bag. so i wanted to disable that air bag. but i wanted to leave the pass side air bag in tack. can that be done with out setting off ne dash lights?

i seem to remember seeing an airbag simulator when you install a new steering wheel
you cant do anything to your airbag and have the light on, your pass side will not go off -

Try to disconnect the yellow plug under the driver's side dash and see what happens.
I have a feeling that you will need to disable the entire system.Comment

US patent No. 6624641 seems to indicate that GM has 4 different resistance values. The values range from .5 to 6 ohms in .5 ohm steps. Not much help, but perhaps a little trial and error are in order. Be very careful with airbags... they are explosive, don't probe the airbag with an ohm meter, the current in a digital ohm meter may be enough to detonate the airbag.Comment
