  • Is it possible

I was just wondering is there any possible way to roll back mileage on a 95 LT1. The reason I ask this question is I am in the stage of trading in my 98 v6 for a 95 Z28. Well I started to write down the mileage and to day I went up there again to check out something and to ask a few questions and I went to check the odometer (sp) to see what the mileage was well to day it showed 83162 (4/17) and on 4/06 it showed 83165 so I was just wondering is there any way possible to roll back the mileage. If it’s possible to do that then I’m gonna pass on that car but if it isn’t possible then maybe I just wrote/remembered it wrong. So please let me know thanks. BTW the odometer isnt the digital one its the one "manual" one.

    Here are the mileage

Heres all the dates/mileage on carfax:

    Date/Mileage

    01/30/1997 15,014
    02/24/1997 15,020
    04/25/1997 15,357
    05/02/1997 17,672
    08/05/1998 28,923
    10/28/1998 29,725
    11/19/1999 54,032
    12/29/1999 55,858
    02/01/2000 57,372
    08/09/2000 60,390
    01/08/2001 64,414
    10/19/2001 64,527
    05/19/2003 79,354
    06/12/2003 79,722
02/17/2004 82,662 (mileage when it got to the lot)

The owner drove it for about 2 weeks before it was put up for sale at the dealer. The milage was 82782 (2/28/2004) when it was officailly for sale.

Here is when i started to record it:

    Date/Mileage
    3/17/2004 83130
    3/19/2004 83145
    4/05/2004 83155
    4/06/2004 83165
    4/17/2004 83163

And if its possible (Hope not) did GM ever make a device or anything to show that the odometer has benn tamperded with. Like stipped the numbers or something of that sort.

I doubt they would roll it back for only two miles.

Rolling it back for what ever the reason is illegal

Is it a reputable dealership, or "Little Vinnie's Used Car Emporium"? Any complaints to the Better Business Bureau about them?

The PCM keeps a log of the mileage as well...the GM dealership should be able to check it for you.

Its a reputible dealership. I mean its family owned but its been in business since 1977. The dealership is called All American Auto(kansas). Not to mention its part of the BBB and i just ran a report on them and according to the BBB it has a "satisfactory record".

Usually if a business is a member of the BBB, they won't risk screwing up their record, as it becomes public knowledge, as you already know. I don't think there's any sort of risk involved with dealing with them, maybe you read the odometer wrong the time before last? Just a possibility.
