had a similar problem myself -- hooked mine up using Tiago's diagram and it doesnt work, even went back to the auto parts store and asked if i could use one off the shelf and plug it in, didnt work either.
so i dont think its my MSD or the other one in the store (how can two completely different units be bad..if thats the case, why are we using MSD?) so im pretty sure something is wrong in the wiring..its wierd cause when i hook mine up, sounds like it drops a coilpack.

starting from left to right....
channel 1
brown/orange
red
white
brown/white
channel 2
use the same Brown/orange from channel 1
use the same Red from channel 1
green
brown/green
channel 3
brown/yellow
yellow
red
brown/orange
ground the violet...
tape off the brown/violet...
you do not need to use tach adapters...
make sure you use the correct red and brown/orange wires... as the wires come out of the plug, they are thoeretically separated into 2 groups...the red wire in the group with the white, must stay with channel 1 and 2. you may not mix this red with channel 3's red...same thing for brown orange..
good luck!

thank you thank you thank you, car fires up and works great with this setup (Which btw, is the EXACT SAME SETUP as the one on tiagos site -- http://tiago.phxchevy.com/MSD.html)
