Can you actually see the crack, or did a shop tell you that?
Regardless, the cheapest you can find will be at local junk yard (on occation). -- And if you're lucky, you'll get the oppertunity to pull it off a motor yourself. That way you can easily learn how to put it back on. ;)

I was told the same thing on the Virus over the summer; not so much as a crack, but that there was a leak in the intake Manifold: $800 fix (or something outragous.) I changed the oil and the problem went away. It has yet to resurface.
How's she running?
You'll feel a power lose with an intake leak, and be able to hear either one. Spend some time with your engine, get some friends around and listen to it run. The engine may be 'lopey' or idle erratically. Soapy water around the intake manifold gasket will reveal where air leaks are present.
Intake Manifold is an expensive fix, because of the time a shop has to put into it. I've never had a problem with exhaust manifolds . . . and the only way I've "heard" those can be cracked, is by putting really cold water on them while they're hot. But then, I wash my engine bay all the time and have never had a problem.
NOTE: After taking my 3.4 to a shop once, I no long let anyone else put the wrenches to my car unless I'm present. But then, that's just me ;)
