Do you have a way to put compressed air in the cylinder? IF so you can see if it's getting past the rings or valves. I usually take the valve out of the compression tester hose and hook the air hose to it.
Yes you'll hear it coming out the intake, exhaust or valve cover breather. If it's the breather it's leaking passed the rings. The other two passed one of the valves.
I finally got a chance to dig into the car today. Pulled the upper intake off and the gasket looked good. Pulled the lower and the gasket looked good. Pulled the cylinder head and that gasket looked good. Number 6 was at BDC so I did a quick check of the cylinder wall and it felt ok, no scores or ridges. I was starting to think I misdiagnosed the problem until I move the piston to TDC. On the front edge of the top of the piston there was a small chunck missing. I probed it with a tiny screwdriver and sure enough the top ring was showing. Looks like the engine is coming out.:(
Since I have it mostly disassembled now I was going to pull it out the top since it seems like I shouldn't have any clearance problems. My question is can I reassemble it outside of the car and lower it in from the top or should I put the short block in and finish the reassemble in the car?
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
