Me and another guy are trying to see if we can get enough people to respond. We will see if this will become a recall and get our cars fixed for free. Will need everyone's help. Lets do this!

No ticking, but then I have no door ajar dinging sound. Only dings with key in ignition.

How do you leave the doors open to work on the interior? Like cleaning in the summer?

Sounds like you are saying it's not supposed to chime unless you have the key in the ignition.

Or are you saying that there is something wrong with your chime?

If it's the former, who are you referring to?

If it's the latter, there is nothing wrong with your chime, cuz mine don't chime unless the key is in there too.

So far, just 96's, why, does your 97 have problems?

mine definitely ticks, but just about all 3800s do... i don't think it's a model year thing. could be a combination of valve noise or the more odious exhaust leak.

                          yeah, injector pulse.

I have that too, in my 2000 model year.

now, 96's don't have the better harmonic balancer that the 97+ models have, but I don't think that's an issue.

Guys im only talking about the clicking or ticking noise that comes from under the dash around the glove box area.
Nothing with engine at all. yes it is only 96s that do this, at least from what i know. when i have a few days worth of posts i will print this and send this to GM and see if cant get them to give us a recall.
And yes your door ding is supposed to work with the door open.(hint hint "door" ding) the dinger is in the IBCM unit. my car clicks before it dings, i put th key in and it clicks some more, finally when the ticking stops and i hear the door bell it will start. just recently it is getting to the point wher i dont know if it will even click. i have to try and start it then it will click...then it will start when teh clicking stops.

if anyone knows how put electrical ticking in the subject to make the ticking more specific.
