as far as i know his has only to do with the IBCM and usually only happens when your car is cold and or freezes overnight.

Recall on an 8yr old car?? Would that not be a wear and tear item??

And for the record, it doesn't chime without the key in the ignition.

Mine has done it, but only because of a weak battery. Mine doesn't do it when the door chimes.

I recommend you do something better with your time. GM is not going to give a rats *** about any of this. You won't even have 10 people 'complaining' about this ticking noise..And since it's not a danger to anyone,,any priority what so ever to your future letter just disappeared.

I have a '96 and it ticks. It almost seems like it is something on the belt but is not. It's around the passenger side and I never did figure out what it was.

Well if not a recall at least a discount would be nice, if your car doesn't make this electrical ticking noise DO NOT POST. if it does tick like i have said before then post and tell how and under what circumstaces it ticks.

yes, its only AN ELECTRICAL TICKING NOISE FROM IN THE CAR. im not talking about valves or injectors....

And the recall, although not dangerous, is a hassle if you get stranded somewhere in the cold, and your car wont start. its a PITA, so if we get enough people, its at least worth an email.

Or are you saying that there is something wrong with your chime?

If it's the former, who are you referring to?

If it's the latter, there is nothing wrong with your chime, cuz mine don't chime unless the key is in there too.

My Firebird has no "door ajar chime" without the key in the ignition. When I am cleaning the car interior I leave the doors open for hours with NO chime. Leave the key in the ignition and it chimes until I pull the key (and it stops) or shut the door.

duh...it's only supposed to chime when it's in to remind you to take your keys with you when you leave the car.

and as for this being a 96 only problem....guess again

when it gets cold like this, your battery isn't as efficient and has trouble getting the car started. this happened to me last winter and went away as soon as it started to warm, and not freeze every night. it's doing it again this winter...mine will completely turn off if it doesn't crank on the first try.... everything dies, no power whatsoever... i only get power back if i pull the key out and try again...it then will maybe start, and resets the trip odometer....

maybe mine is a VATS problem...or something with my ghetto ground...but it only happens when it's cold. and i'm a 98

this has nothing to do with your battery!!! my battery is new and it still does it. my car fires right up after the ticking stops. not slow cranking either. my door ajar bell sound when the "door is ajar" All im talking about is the clicking behind the glovebox in the IBCM.
