  • reluctor ring affect speedo recalibrator?

When I got my gears and LSD installed I didn't get an ABS reluctor ring installed because I didn't know about it, so I thought I had everything. Now I've gotten my hands on an SLP speedo recalibrator unit, but it's not working right. I wired it up and it worked fine when I put it through the test mode listed in the instructions, but when I set it to work w/the car, my speedo stays at 0 no matter what. I was wondering if the VSS and SLP unit somehow need the signal from the reluctor ring to function properly. If any knows, or has suggestions about this, I'd really appreciate it, I'm tired of have to try and calculate/guess about what my real speed is.

is it an inline unit like the one from intense racing?
If it is, do a search for something I posted about it. I posted what wire and plug the wire is that goes to your speedo which is the wire you need to be using. You might have it hooked up wrong where the wire coming out of the speedo is not going to the speedo so it gets no signal.

You have cruise control don't you. Those recalibrators have issues with cars that have cruise control. I have the same problem with my car. I just said screw it and drive the car with the speedo being off by like 15%

Everyone I've talked to has no idea how to fix it - at least on a '99 model camaro.

i have no idea if you need the reluctor ring signal or what, but a big prob with the slp recalibrator is having a good ground. find a good ground & try the test mode again..

Him and I both have a 95 and my cruise control works perfect still.

id bet you anything that this is the problem. make sure you wire the ground up well. if you dont the speedo will always read zero. even if its working fine for a while, the connection can eventually come loose. it happened to me about 2 or 3 times (leaving me stranded while i fixed it, cutting the wire with my teeth and wrapping it around the ground) until i got it hooked up well.
