  • problem since new motor was put in

bout 5 months ago right after new years i had to put a new (rebuilt) motor in my 96 Camaro Rs. since the day i got it back its been having a constant sputter and loss of HP when it heats up. when the temp gauge stays at normal (first line) it runs fine, but when it gets up to the middle line..starts sputtering and losing hp. and when it cools back down to the first line it runs great again.

heres the thing that 2 shops told me. when the shop did the new motor...he put green coolant in the car and under the hood it says to use orange only. now both other shops i asked said that since the green was put in..its screwing with the temp senor or some **** and its making it run like crap. could that be true? been dealing with this **** for 5 months and had it in to the shop that did the car 4 times and he hasnt fixed that problem. can anyone help me plz.

but heres the thing...what originally happened was my oil pump failed and screwed the motor up. before that happened i had the orange in it. never had a sputter or loss of power. the guy at the shop told me he was gonna put the green coolant in it because the orange creates that muddy build up or whatever. so of course me not knowing much about cars believed him that the green would be ok in my car cuz of the new motor. apparently he was wrong and so was I. Think what im gonna do is drain the system and put orange back in...and replace the coolant temp sending unit and see if that helps. if not im going back to his *** and have fix the damn thing. if anyone else has any ideas of what else might be wrong, let me know.

seems kinda funny to me that since i bought the car 2 years ago...never any problems...day the oil pump failed...no other problems..no misfires or anything. but the DAY i get the car back with the new motor ive been having nothing but problems. like i said in my first post or whatever....2 different shops told me it was cuz of the coolant. it just doesnt seem right that the old motor ran orange and never had a problem...new motor running green...problems for 5 months now. so i will be changing out the coolant and the temp sending unit this week and hope that fixes my problem. if not its going back to the shop 1 last time before i file a complaint with the automotive bureau.

The middle line? My car has never seen the middle line, even in 100* heat at the track mine has never been that hot (even before i put in the stat). Seems a little high for me, I agree with trying a 180* thermostat.

Any chance they mixed green and orange?

it gunks up and clogs stuff up when it mixes...

how could they mix green and orange when a new motor was put in? plus he told me he flushed the radiator anyhow, so theres no way it could have been mixed.
