Hey all,
I just purchased AutoTap from someone off of ebay, and when I hook it up it wont connect to my vehicle to gather the vin info and shiznit. It give a "Lost Communication" error.
Do any of you know what could be the problem could be.
I am running a windows 2000 machine with 320MB of ram and a 600MHz processor.
Thanks is advance,
Shane
uhhhh...are you serious? Yes, I do, even tried it with the car running. Just to save you some time I have the cables plugged in correctly and tight. Any other suggestions?
I have tested the 5 and 16 pins to see if I had the proper voltage, which they did. I have installed and reinstalled the software 2 times, and tried many different configurations to try and start it up, with no luck.
Maybe the unit is defective!
Shane
yah, i was serious sounds like you've troubleshot the system pretty good tho.
have you tried it on another vehicle? it'll work on any gm vehicle...maybe there's a problem in the wiring harness of your obdii connector, on your car?
Call B&B electronics and speak to Joe. I'll tell you right now... I've had nothing but problems with Autotap software on my Dell laptop. I think my computer is the problem. Mine doesn't even work anymore. It was working fine for a while and then I went to the track one day, turned on the computer to run it and got an error code...I'm thinking it's more trouble than it's worth. I've only gotten to use it 3 times at the track. Totally aggravating.
Thanks for the help. I have downloaded the latest version(2.05)and it still isnt working. I have a dell laptop(inspiron 5000), I wonder if this could be an issue.
I have also been emailing Joe, he has been some help but nothing has worked yet. I loaded another HPP3 program so I know the harness is working ok.
Shirl what kind of Dell laptop did/or do you have, I guess Joe couldn't really help you out if you could only use it 3 times
Thanks,
Shane
P.S. Has anyone else had any problems

Shane, you're not going to believe this...but I also have a Dell Inspiron computer. I can't remember the exact model #, but it was on sale for 899.00 and now it's 799.00. A good friend of mine recommend that I go online with it (which I didn't want to do) and download virus software and firewalls for it. Supposedly, it'll run better that way. Who knows...
