• Resistor that adds hp?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

I found this on ebay and read the replies from the buyers that have bought the resistor from the guy. The replies say they noticed some difference and was a decent buy for the money. Probably not the up to 20 hp like it says since that is impossible with a resistor.

Anyone here buy a resistor like this and notice anything? It seems to me like this is just some guy buying resistors at a hobby shop for a couple cents a piece and making money off them.

If these resistors do work, then what resistor is it? I am sure if it works, I could find one at a store around town instead of paying a couple bucks to this guy. Let me know if anyone knows anything about this resistor thing.

There is a review on this site about it....nothing noticed...and its a $.05 resistor anyway....don't over pay....just do some research and goto radioshack.

It's a crock but it works.
There are people that know just enough to be dangerous(< me 3 or 4 yr ago) or scam people, here is a good example.
All that thing does is eather supplement (could be good) the air temp sensor or replace it (bad).
If you supplement the air temp sensor you trick the ECU into reading the incoming air is colder than it realy is and it adds more fuel and advances the timing and you get more power it works better with higher grade gas.
If the resistor replaces it all together you would throw ses light, bad gas milage, fail smog test and so on.
The air temp sensor reads 5 or 5.2 ohms or K(X 1000) ohms I think (not sure), and when the temp goes up the resistance goes down so you could put a resistor in series with sensor and trick the ECU.
Make your own, you can make your own by figuring out how much resistance the sensor makes then add some to it.
Ex. a coolant temp sensor makes 4K ohms at cool temps and less than 2K ohms in luke warm water.

it does replace the factory sender, and no you won't get a ses light, or fail smog, ect.

all it does is set the computer to see air at 37 degrees, or some other cold, set amount.

It is what is called ghetto tuning, and will net a little power, but it not reccomened, as there is a reason for the IAT sensor, and that is so your motor knows how much timing it can pull, and it can also be used by the maf, in some cars, Im not sure if the gm maf needs to know the air temp or not, so i can't say for sure if it used by any tables in the pcm for that purpose.

read the rules. none of this crap is allowed...at least make a suggestion on what or where to search, possibly a link.
