I need some help with an engine question. Today when I started up my car it felt like it was misfiring. It was idling very rough for about 5-10 minutes. I also got a check engine light stuck on too. As soon as I got on the highway and up to speed the misfire and rough idle went away, but when I slowed down to around 25-35 it idled a little bit fast but not rough and no misfire. I had this same problem a week before christmas last year, back then I took it to a Chevy dealership to find out what was wrong and they said it needed a tune up and that they would be happy to do it for a mere $600. Yeah that's right $600, they must think I'm Nuckin Futs! They turned off the engine light and said they cleaned the throttle body. Maybe they're right and all it needs is a tune up, but this is my first winter with the SLP Cold Air installed and I'm thinking that b/c of the extremely cold temps we've had here in Ohio that this might be causing my problem. I've never had this problem before and even though my car is a 98 I've only got 28,500 miles on it and then again maybe I'm a dumbass and simply neglected my car.

75% of wierd idling problems can be blamed on a bad IAC Sensor. Mine went bad, and the idle went totally screwy. It would idle at 1k, then I'd tap the gas and it would go up to 3k for about 5 seconds, then drop back down almost stalling. Go to autozone for a replacement. GM wanted $125 for it, and autozone wanted $26.
I would try plugs and wires first, then replacing the iac sensor if problems persist.

I can tell you that it does not have anything to do with the CAI. That would not cause those problems.- Josh<br />If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com<br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/viper98885\" target=\"_blank\">\'93 Camaro Hardtop</a><br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/01lincolnls8\" target=\"_blank\">\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport</a><br />\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6<br /><a href=\"http://www.ftpp.net\" target=\"_blank\">Full Throttle Performance</a>
