  • Anyone ever order a v6 oil pan?

So a little while ago I cracked the oil pan on my v6... since it's been off the road I have not really worked on it with the ending of this college semester and all. Now that it's time to start working on her again I called auto zone, napa, and car quest. None of them can get me a v6 oil pan? I then call my buddy who works for a different car quest and when talking to the chevy dealer he tells me he can get me the oil pan in three days, for the wholesale price of 130.00!!! WOW. I love how I can buy a v8 one for what, 40-60 bucks with gasket online? Gah... Anyone else have this? It's just weird to me how much more it costs for a smaller engine... guess it shows how many more v8's there are?

    Sorry, just confused I guess.

I had mine replaced at the dealership my dad worked at, I would check GMpartedirect.com if you have the part #. I think it was like $100 or so. Not a easy part to replace, if you don't have access to a lift.

That is some very good advice... I guess it just shocked me how much it costs for a molded chunk of metal that just bolts on! lol

How do you keep cracking them kristen? Is yours lowered a lot or something?

well i keep busting out my oil pan gaskets. jk ne ways. but when i did my clutch and flywheel my pan got a decent dent in it. so i decided that i wanted to change it out. and i did the pan again while i was in there, just to be safe.

i can do that fix with my eyes closed heheh
