  • o2 sensor?

can an o2 sensor cause my engine to bog down or have a loss of power when accelerating? i heard a rumor so and maybe it could be the problem to my scceleration problem. in the mean time ive ordered msd wires, got a magnaflow cat and am gettin spark plug. hopefully this will fix my acel problem

      Re: o2 sensor?

how many miles on the car?
I had similar issue and it was the MAF sensor...car ran like crap, would stall out when idling, wouldn't accelerate and would buck when trying to accelerate. I think it did it a while before setting SES light and throwing a MAF code. Maybe you could borrow a MAF from a good running car and try it?

Also sounds like it could be the cat converter partly clogged, or weak fuel pump or dirty fuel filter....they might not set the SES.

        Re: o2 sensor?

o2 will not hamper performance, you'll run rich at start up until the o2 goes into a closed loop. obiviously, a SES light will illuminate. You lack of performance lies elsewhere...for the most part. that's for your upstream o2s. if it's your downstreams, performance is not hampered at all...

get it scanned if the SES is illuminated.

happened to me in a 3.4L, replaced the coils everything was good, but change the wires and plugs for good measure
