does anything need to be done when taking off the fuel rails around the intake manifold to not allow fuel to leak out? or any other precautions for that matter.

I did it in 30-40 minutes. But I've worked on the 3800 so much I know where every single line goes. I unplugged everything, and unrouted my wires, and tossed them aside. Removed the plate the coil packs and icm sits on, and unhooked the harness thingymajigger that plugs into the back of the icm, and set it aside. Relieved the fuel pressure, and still had some fuel leak out...no biggy, I cleaned it up before I re-assembled. I also pulled each injector out, before I worked the fuel rail out of position and slid it overtop the manifold.
Going back in, I was a little more careful with the new injectors, but I just reversed the process. I had the fuel rail and injectors out within the 30-40 minutes and in total I took maybe...1 hour and 45-2 hours all together. ( including cleaning up the little bit of fuel spill. )
