How do I put this...what is the fastest speed you've gone when dropping into 1st gear?
The owners manual said not to drop it into first past 20mph and I've never. I'm just wondering who here has dropped it into 1st gear at a higher speed and what speed it is.

First gear lockout is 25 mph. Don't do it otherwise...just to gauge how much it can damage your tranny, muscle it (MUSCLE) into first gear, leave the clutch in...and listen to your tranny cry in pain

Not sure what kind of ghetto transmission you have....but mine goes in easily to first at any speed and never makes a noise...smooth as silk
sounds like yours is more ghetto than mine  at least mine works the way it's supposed to.
Look at it this way. Sometimes, I'm sure we're not all an Andretti brother when it comes to shifting. Well, say you want to down shift to 3rd from 4th at say, 50 mph. You, with your silky smooth transmission, goes along with your misshift, sending your motor into a blazing glory of ~7700 rpm bye bye engine, but your tranny is still silky smooth
Whereas if my ghetto transmission won't let it glide so easily into gear, i can just easily readjust to get into third gear, and save my motor.
