• The Ultimate Tune-Up?

Allright, I am set on getting a cam, but want to get my car in best shape first. I have had numerous problems with it. It acts up alot. The other day, The ignition would click and the engine would rotate but not start until finaly the battery died and nothing would happen. I waited like 20 minutes and she fired up the first try. It sometimes takes around 6 second to get the engine to start. What am I looking at there? Ignition? I also get horrible gas milage. I replaced the PCV. What else should be done.
I have NGK plugs waiting to go in. I am doing oil change to Mobil 1 (thats whats in it now), what filter do you all use?, I am going to replace the differential oil with Redline (have it too). What else would you recommend replacing to fix her up? I also want to fix the suspension. I get alot of noises from the steering system, like rubbing and squeaks. Also my car makes a great deal of noise over bumps. The exhaust hangers need to be replaced, but what about bushing, how do I take care of those? It also makes a screeching, creaking when you are on a slight downgrade (or going in revese) and use the breaks (when you lift up the break pedal, its like the body is storing all the power that was held back) It does in when manuvering in parking lots (I dont know If I did even a decent job of explaining it, maybe someone knows what I am talking about, lol). Also any additives for fuel, oil, etc. that you all swear by? Sorry this is going on so long, but my AC is messed to. It works fine, but when you turn it to any of the cold (or heat) positions (not the fan) it makes some nasty noises that can be heard from outside(and inside) the car as well as effecting the exhaust. I have a 43KB MP3 of it if someone would host it for me. I dont have any hosting.
Phewwwww. I know some of you have had problems with your car and hopefully someone has had and knows how to fix some of mine. Thanks (if you made it this far )

Edit: Also, I forgot what is a good OBDII scanner? Isnt there one that gives you fuel pressure and stuff?

And, after all that I somehow forgot to mention my car is a 2000 Camaro. No major mods, just intake, exhaust, etc. 50K on the clock.

"What am I looking at there? Ignition?"
Possibly your IBCM box behind your glove compartment box. Does the clicking come from there?

"...Gas mileage?"
You did the PCV. Do fuel filter (standard Fram or AC Delco from an auto store), put those plugs in, check the wires. If still bad, EGR, and as a last resort, O2 sensors.

"Also any additives for fuel, oil, etc. that you all swear by?"
Dont ever, EVER, put anything in your OIL. Fuel, you can do octaine booster, that stuff is OK. For cleaning injectors (every other oil change, or whenever you want before than), use Chevron w/ Techron. Its a little pricy, but hands down the best stuff out there.

"ac problems?"
I havent the faintest clue. Is the belt slipping on the compressor, or is your belt too loose everywhere?

thats my $.02. hope it helped.

The clicking is the starter or whatever trying to fire the engines up, sorry.

I replaced the fuel filter when i got my car about a year ago when I was having more ignition problems (the same almost, but would actually stall) maybe it was the same problem? I am probably going to replace it again (maybe there was some mess in my fuel tank?). I bought some Techron too. Gonna wait for the tank to run 1/8 or so left and put it in.

EGR? I know it is the exhaust gas regulator, but what can be done about it? how much?

And the AC...

Here is that clip (it is a 43KB Mp3 recorded in the engine bay.):

I'll probably replace the belt, just because its not that expensive and the dealer(USED!) did it when they sold my car, and maybe they used a cheap/wrong one. They used a real ****ty oil filter, makes me wonder about the belt.

btw don't ever use octane booster it is utterly worthless and maybe, MAYBE gives 1 octane.

if octane booster claims 3 points and you're using 93, you've now got 93.3 octane.

now, the stuff that boosts 20 points, that's good stuff!

and it doesnt hurt to run that thru once every now and then to help clean out the system

yea, octaine booster points are actually .X points. so a booster that raises "9 POINTS!" is actually .9 points.

but it does work...
