simple answer?
unbolt the old one and reverse the process for install...
j/k
get a friend, two is better; to hold up each side of the hood, while you unhook the hood struts)dont know if 97's came with them..
if they did, you'll see a little band at the top where it meets the hood, take a flat head screwdriver and pry it out a little, it should pull right off the ball of the hood bracket. do not pull the band off all the way, huge pain in the *** to get back in...
next step is to unbolt the hood from the car..
4 bolts 2 on each side, they will be bolted into the hood itself,
lift off car and unbolt the strut brackets and hood latch and reverse install the new one,,
you should wait until someone posts about adjusting your new hood and marking the old one or something... its important, but im not sure im qualified for that info
