    Stop by a dealer. They usually have brochures that cover the details of their $$$ tune-up.

      If buisness is slow for them that month, they basically tell you that you need everything, and they are the only ones who know how to install the parts on your car.
      There is a breakdown of check-ups, and routine maintenence in a chiltons manual. Although GM states that the plugs and coolant can go to 100k, I would strongly flush the coolant and change the plugs before that. Somewhere near 35-45k miles.

            Check everything. Change plugs. Make it sound like a lot more.

              Let me rephrase that--they'll check "everything", and if they find something that's "ok" for now but may break in the future and cost you fat cash ANYWHERE, then they won't even mention that when you pick the car up... ;)

                Anywho, back to topic. You might see what GM recommends in the owners manual, yet usually dealerships have their own maintenance schedule and plans. So it might vary from one place to another. Typical tune-up usually consist of plugs, wires, air filter, and oil change. More complete ones prolly adds coolant replacement(radiator only), pcv, and fuel filter. The rest of the list are "check this" or "check that". Probably have like 20-25 items listed on the things they do, and the majority of the items are just "checking". If you want to save money and ask them can you just do these and not check all that crap, they would just say it's included in the whole package.

                  GM doesn't get any money from a dealership doing tune ups. That's profit for the dealer.

                    I did the "Full Tune-up" from a GM dealer when I got my car 3 years ago. They basically told me I needed new fuel rails, spark plugs, wires, blah blah blah. Total cost was $490 for the so called "Full Tune-up". I'll be honest and say that they left the car running wonderful, but for $490, I don't know. A reason why i decided to learn more about my car so that I would be able to do work on her instead of paying 350 bucks for labor. Worth it? Yes, if you don't know jack about cars. But for the price they'll charge you..... It's up to you... :rolleyes:
