I've had this problem for a while and I posted about it and no one knew but now I've got more info so I figured I'd see if this rang a bell to anyone. I have a 2000 v6 firebird. Sometimes, I start the car, it starts up, stutters, and dies immediately and will keep oding so until I turn the key to the on position several times and then it starts. I've noticed now it only does this when it goes from one temperature extreme to the other. Like if it was 20 outside today and if it was 60 tomorrow it would do this, or the other way around. Thats not always the case but the bulk of the time it is. And it could simply be coincidence, who knows with its randomness. But when it starts this it'll go on for days like its trying to figure something out. Then magically after a few days its perfect again. And never once does it throw a code and according to gm dealer I took the car too, the computer can't recall anything ever going wrong. Of course every time I take it down there it instantly stops acting up to make me look like I enjoy taking my car to get checked out for no reason.
At first I thought the fuel pump, but its been doing this for about a year now, ever since I bought it, and its still running. I've been told it could be the security system not recognizing the chip in the key but have no idea if that could be it or not. I've also been told it could be wiring but who knows. Hopefully someone on here can deduce the problem from that or has had this problem and actually got it fixed. Thanks in advance.
