  • No Oil!

I recently rebuilt my engine in my 98 3.8L. after a while of driving i noticed a clicking sound and loss of power and oil pressure. I found out that the seal between the plenum and intake manifold were bad. I replaced the gasket and tightend everything up and even changed out the lifters. I ran some engine flush through it and nothing helped. I took the oil filter off to see if there was even any oil getting through it... and there wasn't! what should I do?

    Don't drive it!
Possibilities that I can think of..
    1. You forgot to put oil in it.
    2. The pump is bad
    3. The oil pickup inside the oil pan fell off or got loose/bad gasket.
    4. Something is badly clogged.

Did you remove the oil pump cover or even get into any of that?

      Re: No Oil!

Could be one of the states reasons as Blizzard said, but there is also the possibility a piece of gasket or something getting stuck in the REAR cover as well in one of the oil valleys, tho, I doubt any piece of anything could get that far and not be stopped up prior to that.

Haha ya that would suck if I did drive it. I dont think I would have an engine right now! But, I did take off the oil pump cover. I probably needed to adjust the spring part ( I have NO idea what the spring part does!). Anyone know how to adjust that thing? I have 4 quarts of oil and some seafoam engine flush in it.

Ouch, not knowing everything about what you're doing can get you in the end and apparently it has. I've never taken my pump cover off but it said somethin about packing it with vaseline or something of the sort in the haynes manual before you reinstall the cover. I can't remember what it says exactly but you should look into it. If I make it out to the garage today I'll grab the manual and give it a read.
