how much would it be to get scanned.....

Autozone or advanced will do it for free. they should be able to give you a printout as well.

My guess will be a multiple cylinder misfire cause by sparkplugs and/or coil, but I'm just guessing.

Yeah the computer will store any trouble codes apparent or not so they can be pulled.

              ok....i got it scanned.

              Trouble shooting: P0171

The PCM has determined that during testing, the fuel system for bank 1 was too lean. (Bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder #1, while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the oppsite bank.)

Defintition: Fuel trim bank one condtion.

Explaination: The powertrain control module uses the oxegyn sensor to calculate the air/fuel ration of the engine. The comp has reconized a rich or lean condition on one engine bank only.

              Problem causes:

1 If bank one and two codes set together suspect fuel pressure or MAF sensor.

              2-oxegyn sensor defective.

              3-ignition misfire-repair

              4 fuel injector problem.

              Trouble shooting: P0301

The PCM determined that a misfire has accured in cylinder 1.

1- Ignition system fault spark plugs.ignition wires, coils.

              2 vacuum leak

              3 injector fault.

4 high or low fuel pressure.

How much can you do yourself? How long has it been since a tune up? If it's been a while then it won't hurt to start with plugs and wires (40+) depending on what you get and about 1 hour of time. O2 sensor not sure but can't be more than 50-75 and about another hour of time. While your doing both or one just check all the vacum lines to make sure those aren't cracked at all. Ignition is the common link on both problems (I was so close on my guess) but O2 sensor is common. Fuel problems can be more expensive and MAF is the most expensive part but simple fix. Start with the tune up and O2 and make sure you leave the battery unhooked for a good half hour to give the computer a chance to recycle and see where it's at. If that doesn't resolve it, you haven't hurt anything by doing maintenance, start narrowing down from the rest of the list.

I did mine the first time in about 45 minutes. If you just did them and have the time take em out and inspect them make sure they aren't fouling or anything like that. Make sure your wires are good no cuts or burns.
