i took my intake manifold, valve covers, throttle body, alternator, fuel rails, injectors, coil packs, and EGR (replaced EGR when done also) off my car recently to paint the fuel rails and valve covers and polish the intake, TB and alternator housing. Well i finally put it all back together today, fired the car up, and it runs like absolute ****. it fires up, and then settles down into the worst idle ever, almost dies, which it might if id let it run. it doesnt sound like your everyday small vacuum leak. im afraid to let the car run any longer than a few seconds because it sounds so bad. any thoughts?

Re: engine runs absolutely horribly
maybe you ffffd up one of the seals, probably intake related. Is your TB hooking up alright? You could try choking the engine a lot and see if it gets better or worse- that'll give you some ideas on what the problem is.

Re: engine runs absolutely horribly
yeah we got the plugs in the right spots, i triple checked and whatnot. we tinkered around a little bit and it sounds a little better now...not much better. but if this helps, i gave it some gas, and blue smoke came out the exhaust...blue??? what does that mean haha. still troubleshooting...any advice is helpful
also, when i rev the car a bit around 2000RPM's you can hear a sort of clicking noise from the exhaust. it might not be a clicking or more like a fast stutter, im not sure.
a scanner would be nice to see codes being thrown...but ive always had a check engine light from my high flow cat, and i dont have a scanner or know anyone that has one :(

Re: engine runs absolutely horribly
alright, ive got a pretty good idea of what it might be. i was thinking it might be a bad coil pack, and i called a friend of mine that has had coil pack problems before and described the symptoms of my car, and he described his back to me, and they sound exactly the same. so tomorrow im gonna get a new one and see if thats the problem...hopefully it is
