Ok wtf is a oil sending unit??? I had a little problem with my car leaking oil last week and it was starting to smoke when the oil dripped onto the exhaust. So I took it to my mechanic and he said that he just needed to replace the oil sending unit? He did that and now it seems to be ok, no more leak, and no more smoke. I just want to know wtf he was talking about. BTW it only cost $60 bucks to fix so it wasn't that big of a deal I guess.

It's the sensor that reads what your oil pressure is, and sends that information to the PCM and/or gauge to let you know what your oil pressure is. It is an inexpensive part, and fairly simple install.www.fullthrottlev6.com THE SOURCE!

It is located in the front of my engine. Mine busted and oil would come out the plug. I would loose a quart in 60 miles or less. It cost me $34 dollars and I replaced it myself. I just used some metal piping sealant to be safe. if you have ever turned a wrench you can fix one of these things yourself.
I'm so glad I actually started working on my car. When I got it I was to afraid I would mess stuff up. When I was quoted $400+ for an alternator change I did it myself for the price of the alt. Then I realized it took five seconds to change a serpantine belt when I already paid $85 to get mine changed. I only take my car if for crucial stuff now like computer. As soon as I get a computer, the only mechanic that will work on my car will be an transmission guy. But that will only be when I beef it up.
