what happens when we hit the governer?

in a friends car (gm) when he hit his, it made a loud bang and the rpms dropped for a little bit, then they started rising again

is that what happens with ours, or once we floor it, and reach the speed limiter, it just stays there?

in our cars, the car just stops accelerating. If it's backfiring or w/e, then your car is busted

no he has a stock FWD gm 3.4l car

not if your doing 115 they wont. they engine is still hooked to the trans so it still will keep up the rpm unless you hit the clutch. It doesnt just shut the car off just cuts the fuel off and then goes back to idle

I dont think thats how ours is designed, some GM's do that and then it kicks back in, thats where you get the surging from but with ours it still gives fuel just stops giving more fuel, I believe.

this thread made me realize i've never actually hit the governer in my car...what is it on an A4 3.4 anyway?

when i hit the governor in my astro (which couldnt of been more than 3500) it shook hard enough to make the ashtray fall open...

is the rev limiter the same as the top speed governor? like, is that all the speed governor is, the engine hittin the limiter in top gear?
