• Toll Transmitter/Florida Sunpass Hide: (UPDATE PICS)

Not sure what forum this belongs in... but basically I found a way to hide the "Sunpass", which is basically a toll transmitter that allows you to go through tolls prepay... everyone has them with tolls.. in Florida they're called Sunpass... anyways, basically all you do is open it up, then there is a car that's about credit card thick, and no more than two credit cards wide, and you put that under the carpet of the roof, just above the rear view mirror.

It makes it compeltely hidden, and you get better signal due to the metal, I believe from what i've noticed.

If want pictures, I can take them, or a writeup.

Basically this is a worthless post, but some people might want to know how to do this. I thought the sunpass mounted on the windshield looked completely hideous.... now no one can see it.

exactly what happened! hahaha.... I might hook it up to my rear view mirror lights so everytime I go under a toll, the lights go on for a second... but that's more a 6 am and bored type of thing.

Great idea, I just have to find somewhere else to mount it, most likely the visor, there is no carpet on my convertible top.

Yeah, that beep is annoying, a light flash would be cool.

        Thanks for the ideas!

I moved down to FL from CT and had the EZPass while there. I agree, that one didn't look like you'd want to disassemble it. The Sunpass is crap, they sell them at Eckerds drug store. Also, here you have to PAY 25$ for the transponder not cool like the deposit system they use in NJ.

it would definitely fit in the pocket of the visor...

I was actualling thinking about disassembling my rear-view mirror and putting it in there... I just woulnd't be able to darken the mirror if someone had their brights on behind me.. I've never really done that before, so I thought it'd be worth it... easier to wire the lights to it too.

not sure I woudl hook the lights up...

might run the battery down quickly... Going to anything bigger then an led may not be a good idea.

Either way I might try it out

                    thats way too much work.

Mine is located on the DRL control module, behind the radio

I even used the velcro that came on the unit from E-pass to mount it there. Still sealed up.

Worked 100% of the time. Since the only part above it is the plastic defronster vent, and the dwindshield glass, there is no problem mounting it there.

                    Ryan.

The more I think about hooking it up to the lights.. I wouldn't use the sunpass battery to light them up, I would just have a switch between the preexisting wires and the lights... so when there is a current, the switch opens up, and the lights come on.. current stops, then lights stop.

It should be fairly cheap.. but I'm a lazy bastard.

nice, the teleporting vehicle... I'll draw up a few plans right now...

(Pics of the naked sunpass coming in a day or so... just so you can see how small it is compared to the case.. it's unbelievable.)
