Damn, and I thought I just wasn't getting any better at this stuff. :) I cannot remember if the rail needs to come out, it would be easier getting to it though if you did. I hate working under the cowl. I hope I don't have to do anything in that area again for a long time. Good luck.
i have no idea what this means, but i have seen cars run richer than you can even imagine
what it means is that when a car runs incredibly rich, there are other very visible and noticible problems/symptoms that come with it, other than JUST a misfire. Dark colored smoke, the stench of gas, etc, ALL of which was NOT mentioned by the OP.

a car running rich will not always produce a dark colored smoke
Thanks to everyone that replied, looks like Blizzard and Skinny hit the nail on the head. I called Advanced , NAPA, and Pep Boys, anywhere from $45-$70, but I saw rock auto online had them for $25, so I looked at the rail I got from the junkyard from an 00 Bonneville, and according to Rock auto's website, my firebird took the same part number.....so I just got done putting the other one in and it runs perfect, just tap the key and it purrs.......had the pull the rail again, but the 50 cuts on my arm from all the sheet metal screwheads sticking out of the cowl will heal in a few weeks, and the car runs great........Thanks again, you guys on this site are very helpful, I had tried another place that wasn't so helpful, Thanks You All Very Much !!:wavey:
btw, my car was putting out lots of blue smoke when it was loading up, and lots of moisture dripping out the exhaust also, and the cat converter was jingling, but it's quiet now for some reason...
Aside from the "I know more than you" bickering... I'm glad it worked out for you beel61 and glad I could help.
