On my 95 3.4 my throttle keeps getting stuck open at WOT, and I have to pull over (I have a stick shift luckaly) and jiggle the TB and it clicks back to normal, but it's a pain. What do you think I should do about it?

Re: Throttle getting stuck open
Clean it of all the carbon deposits and see if that helps. Is it the actual tb getting stuck, or is the cable getting stuck?Y87 Package

Re: Throttle getting stuck open
Good question, I know when I jiggle the TB it comes un stuck, and when it gets stuck the peddal stays in place but I can still lift it twards me but it stays stuck open. And ill try cleaning the carbon build up too.

Re: Throttle getting stuck open
lol anyway...
I think you should pull the TB off and check it for excessive buildup anywhere and clean it with TB cleaner. when you have it off, open it to WOT and see if it still sticks. That will tell you whether or not its the TB. If it sticks, clean it as discussed, see if it still sticks. If it does then I'd just find a new tbY87 Package

Re: Throttle getting stuck open
and unplug all the sensors, etc. Be very careful with your MAF sensor, take the sensors out of the TB before clean it.Y87 Package

Re: Throttle getting stuck open
I would not even remove it. Just buy a aerosol can of throttle body cleaner and spray the crap out of it with the engine off. All you need to do is remove the air intake tubing up to the throttle body. While you are spraying it operate the throttle so the butterfly gets sprayed really well. that should free it up.

my bad, missed where it said 3.4
I would still pull it off though, just so you can get to the back of the butterfly valve and engine-side portion of the TB...might be a tight fit with the TB still on but hey

Re: Throttle getting stuck open
do a visual on the spring, see if it's snapped/binding, also inspect the cable coming from the firewall, and check to see if the pedal is catching on teh carpet, or if anything is snagging it from down there.1978 Formula 461 in progress of being built

Re: Throttle getting stuck open
well, biught the intake/throttle cleaner and sprayed it down real good and put it all back toghether and it still stuck, just it felt different, then i realised that it was just getting cought up on the screw for the coupler that atached the air duct to the TB. so now it works ike a charm and it 's clean.
