need help!! why 14MPG

ok my 95 firebird is only getting 14 MPG if i am lucky, most of the time i only get 12 and 13.:mad: I have dun a complete tuneup and checked everything that i can, cat is gutted and egr is bypassed but that don't explain the extremely poor mileage.

Bad O2 sensors can cause your car to run rich. Maybe get them tested.

Seafoam the car, change fuel filters, and with seafoam treatment you will do an oil change, then lets see how it goes.

the O2's are new i changed them win i did the tune up, and i don't drive it hard do to the bad fuel millage. i can try the sea foam thing all thow i just did an oil change.

that is about 200 miles to a tank.:(

no the exhaust is clean and has no rich smell to it.


i have evin ran the scanner on it and have no codes and no check engine light.

Hey dont feel too bad man...I get 350km to a tank which is 217miles....I'm in the same boat as you...could just be the type of driving you do?...I do mostly city thats why I think it is low....

well i thought about that but all i do is drive 4 or five blocks to work, and every weekend i go into the city witch is 30 min away. but evin on a road trip i still get the same MPG.

Hey what is seafoam?

seafoam is a product that you can get from a parts store or wall-mart that is used to clean your fuel system and crank case and so on.

yes it is running fine, and no i don't think i did bad math i have checked it several times and it has bin this was for over 3 months now. i am the third owner of the car and was the mech for the owner i bot it from and they wer getting 25+ MPG. she did let the car sit for about 6 months before i got it and now like i said i am getting on a good day 14 MPG.:(

did you do the fuel filter like mentioned?...you have me thinking what I can do to get better milage now...I just went through all my service records both from me and previous owner and it looks like it has never been changed...and I have 188,000km on my car lol...looks like this might help me out a bit...maybe you to?

and check PCV valve...I have read about that as well...
