Mine moves really quickly at full (which it hasn't been at for 3 months, sniff) then slows way down after halfway.
Did I mention it goes up sometimes while I'm driving? I guess because the gas warms up or something...
lol I hope your fuel isn't getting hot enough to expand that much.
I don't know how the anti slosh whatnot idea works but I do know your tank will read differently depending on if your car is sitting on a slant for awhile. Not a front to back slant but say like the left side is higher than the right. I believe its because how the float is mounted and where the arm travels.
Just an aside.... I've found that once the warning light comes on, I can get at least 50 miles before it runs out of gas. I have never run it out, I gave up at 50 miles.

my cars "warning" light has never come on for me
my gauge has been like way past E, and i have put over 14 gallons in there before (15.5gal tank)
I hit E, then filled up.
Wouldn't take anymore than 13.5 gallons.
Going off of a 25 mpg, i can get another 50 miles out of that.
Off topic(well kinda)
My car has an EVAP problem where when I fill up, If I pull the handle on the nozzle the full way, meaning the pump is pumping at its full potential, then the car will "stop" the gas from coming out of the nozzle, like it was full.
I found out if I stay a little bit below full potential on the nozzle, it will pump.
Any help here?
I think I remember reading about this and how it had to deal with EVAP, but I don't know where I read it.

thats not an evap problem, its because the filler neck is too skinny and the fuel isnt going into the tank fast enough and is shutting the pump off because it thinks its full

its a pain, but at the slower rate, you'll loose less gas in the transfer from the pump to your tank to evaporation. with the price of gas, every molecule counts. :-)
Sometimes I start slow, pull out 1/4 inch from all the way in, and then let her have it.
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
Hello, so I changed the front bearings on the bird and the ABS inoperative light came on. I made a mistake of not removing negative battery cable. Now...
I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
