  • Headgasket help!!!!!!!

Hey I have a blown headgasket or a crack in my cylinder because i'm getting exaust smoke in my cooling system. So I have ot drive with the radiator cap loose so that the exaust can get out because if I tighten the cap the hoses will will with air and water will start to force it's way through the crack where my thermostat housing meets the block. I heared of this thing that guarenteed to seal the gasket, The site is www.RXHP.com does anybody know if this thing works. I would get the head gasket replaced, but the car has 301,320 on the motor so if I put a fresh top end on it the bottom end of the motor will give....Anybody got any advice or know is this process works?

If the motor is still running strong then just have a new head gasket put on. On another car I replaced the HG at 250K and it continued to run great for another 50K miles until I traded it on the Bird.

What temperature is your car running at?
How can you tell it's a "exhaust smoke"?
      How are your fluid levels?
What are the chances it's your waterpump and you're over heating your car?

Well as long as I keep water in the car it'll run at a temp of 185 thats sitting or moving. I don't really know if it's exaust smoke although I can tell u the smoke is like steam if you will. They say u can see white smoke out of the back o ur car when the gaskets out, but I can't say i've seen it nor can I say there is a milky white residue on the oil stick. If it isn't exaust smoke then I dunno where the smoke could be comming from. what else could be wrong with ma Chevy?

Wait... hold up... do you having disappearing coolant and are just filling the system up with water to keep it topped off?? If so, then thats not smoke its steam. You may want to change out the lower intake gaskets.

I was in the same boat, had coolant disappearing (no drips or visible leaks). Was very costly just to keep coolant in the thing becasue within the week it would need to be refilled. This went on for awhile until one day I saw a milky residue in the oil filler cap, but no bubbles in the radiator filler neck. From what I have read and understand, this pretty much means your headgaskets are at least OK and your lower intake gasket is shot...
