  • No oil pressure, leaking everywhere.

Was going to the store today when i realized that my oil pressure was very low, between the 1st marking and the 1/4 point. I quickly pulled over, saw smoke from my hood, and the smell of burnt oil. Open the hood lots of oil on the bottom part of the engine bay, also leaking onto the ground. Think one of my gaskets went bad or something? I need the car by tomorrow, so if i could get some suggestions quickly, that'd be helpful.

Well, you need to pinpoint the oil leak. Generally a leaking gasket won't cause an oil pressure drop. What year/engine are we dealing with? Guessing that it's a 3.8, I would first look at the oil pressure sensor. It's on the front of the motor above the oil filter. An oil leak there will cause a pressure drop, and make a big mess.

If you recently changed your oil, make sure the pan bolt is tight. That the oil filter is on tight. Also, check to see if the filter has a gasket or not doubled up.

Did you hit anything? Any puntures on your oil pan? Are you leaking from the pan gasket itself? Are you leaking from the oil level sensor?

The oil is leaking from a crack in the piece of the block that screws the oil pressure sensor in... am i screwed?

            So the block is cracked??

That doesn't sound good. I don't think you can have it by tommarow.
Did you screw the oil pressure sensor in too tight??

Need help here finding out if what holds the oil pressure sending unit is acutally a part of the block.....

                EDIT:
Found out its a part of the oil filter adapter(where you screw your oil filter on to)

Any help with a part # or where to find it??

isn't as bad as i originally thought, its a seperate piece from the block, sells for about 37$ from the dealer.

Maybe the oil filter adapter gasket that leak. Not a big deal

Called the dealer this morning, says its a special order part... 6 days to ship.... screwed.

In the meanwhile, has anybody changed this before and could give me some more details on the procedure?
