      Re: a/c compressor

those manuals are garbage when it comes to removing the compressor

there should be 2 bolts you need to take out in the back on a bracket, and another in the middle of the back of the compressor to take the ac lines off

edit* you will most likely need a swivel socket adapter, it makes it a ton easier

this is what i did, it was in my way trying to get to the compressor

IIRC there is a bolt up front on the block and one on back for it

when i took the compressor out, i lifted it up from the top of the engine, it was much easier that way

i also left the bracket that holds the compressor on the block and just took the two bolts out of the compressor

one more quick question. is the holes in the sub frame how you get to them? i remember using some 20 some odd inch extension to get something out and in when we swapped the motor. was that it? and are they 13 like the rest of the mounting bolts on the front? thanks

there are three bolts in the front and a mounting bracket in the back.

you only have to take off 5 bolts and the belt to get it off the car.

I was reading that after removing the belt, and disconnecting the electrical connector, remove the bolts on the front, jack up the car to get to the 2 bolts in the back. The back must be a bracket that both hoses connect to. Also I believe thats where 2 seals are also located.

i'm thinking of taking mine off of my 3.4

cuz i just bought a ac delte pulley.

and my ac doesn't even work.

would it be any different on a 3.4?

btw the 2 metal hoses in the back of the compressor are already disconnected, will this help with me taking it out?

yes it will help, but you shouldnt have disconnected them, unless you dont drive the car

both hoses form into one mount, which is held on by one bolt

i cant remember how many bolts are back there

and yes, that is where the two seals are, make sure when replacing them you put them on the right way and cover them with oil

why is it bad to disconnect them?
