  • ignition lock cylinder question....

When I buy a new ignition lock cylinder do I have to have it matched to the resistance of my stock key or do I just get a key cut to match the cylinder that has the same resistance as my stock key. Thanks. BTW - the dealer wanted 121.00 for the lock cylinder - GMpartsdirect is only 63.40 - just FYI for anyone with a similar problem.

I found out that you just take the template key to the dealer with your old key and have it cut with the same chip. Also - I got the lock cylinder from Autozone for $42. :).
