    i did it but i can smell freon when i'm driving and running the a/c. whats causing that?

      If you really want your ac system to last you're suppose to run it for a few minutes every now and then. Even in the winter. Yeah you'll still have to recharge it but your compressor and whatnot is suppose to last longer. So they say.

        thats prolly not a problem unless you live in a climate with a warm winter, the compressor turns on when the defrosters are on

            I haven't seen this mentioned so I thought I would..........

            After you put your a/c system back together, you did use a vaccum pump and draw a vaccum on your system to remove regular atmosphere, water vapor, etc. before you charged it didn't you?

              yup, it turns on with all settings other than the top only, and bottom only on the dial
