  • Error P0300

I have a 2001 Camaro. Other night on my drive home, smelled coolant. Stupid me decided to try to make it to a better place to pull over, so I could check it out. Car temp guage did not show it overheating so I figured I would be fine. Then the engine stalled and I pulled over the side lifted the hood and a heater hose came loose. Right at the tensioner. Hooked it back up, figured might as well try to see if it starts, no luck. So called towtruck at 2am and no light did not have much choice. After waiting 45 min for tow truck it started but sounded horrible. So got towed home. No SES light or anything when I got home, so I went to bed. Next morning checked again got a error P0300 Multiple Missfire. Tried replacing the ICM, coils, spark plugs and wires. No luck so took it down to mechanic. He believes it is the head gasket. His tester showed missfires on 1 and 3. Was fairly late in the day, so did not do compression test yet doing that on monday. I cleared out the code last thing see if would come back etc, on drive to mechanic. The SES would flash on but only at idle.

I am really hoping that it is not the head gasket, since it is not cheap to get done. Anyone have any ideas?

If you over heated em and burned em up.. yeah the gaskets are quite possibly toast. I've seen gaskets go before hoses pop off. Eh? Good luck with it though.
