I would definately say to change out the filter first ... almost the same thing happened to me, but after the filter swap, all was good again and has been for about 2000 miles.

Oil Pressure Dropping When Engine is Heated

To check the actual pressure you need to hook up a known, good mechanical gauge to the port where the sending unit goes. Then drive the car around and see if the REAL oil pressure is actually the problem. If not, then it's something with the sending unit and you're lucky.
