  • spark between 2 plugs on ignition coil

i just got my car back from the body shop and i was driving home and noticed a horrible misfire. when i got home i popped the hood and saw two wires had a spark between them on the ignition coil. i forget which cylinders they are, but its the top right coil on a 3.4L.

my question is how bad is it to drive with this happening? i'm suppose to work tomorrow and its a 25 mile drive each way. should i call in and avoid driving my car any or could i go and wait til i get off work to fix it?

Depends how bad the car feels to you. How old are your plug wires? Are they pushed down all the way? Is that ignition coil cracked?

it got progressively worse as i drove home. by the time i got home it was sputtering really bad. the cracking noise from the spark is really loud too. i pulled both of the plugs off and put them back on tight. one of the coils if black. i've decided that i won't risk going to work. plus sat is my last day at that job so i don't really care if i miss work.

sounds like that coil pack has gone bad... if its black it sould have been changed a long time ago. Change all of them x3.
