ok so my car's temp gauge hit red yesterday, and i just changed the water pump and had the radiator flushed. steam was comming out of what looked like a cracked intake manifold. so at that point i started taking $hit apart. after the t.b. was off and the alternater and the housing for the idler pully ( i believe thats what its called) i saw that the plastic 90 degree elbow was cracked-??im assuming it was dry rotted?? so i pulled what was left of the elbow off and cleaned as much gunk outa there as possible. so. here is my question, is there anything else i need to check before i replace the two elbows? also what is the exact name of this part? im changing the t.b. gasket, the belt and the thermostat while i already have it all off since its been a while for those to be replaced. any help is appreciated. also pics enclosed of the one elbow that was not as damaged. the first one pretty much was destroyed. sorry about the picture quality, all i had was my cell.
