  • Help SES? (stored car problem)

Well, I have not driven my car since November, so I will go out to the garage and hook up the battery and start it and let it run for awhile.

After a couple hard starts, it see med to be misfiring and idling rough.

Well, I have the NGK TR-6's, so I thought I might have fouled them. They are known to do that w/ the cold starts.

I changed the plugs to new TR-6's, but my SES light won't go away. It is idling smooth and seems like it's running great.

Anybody have any info on what else it could be? Does the SES have to be reset some how?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think that its misfiring b/c the ses light is supposed to blink, isn't it?

I have no idea what it could be. I maintenance the crap out of this car and it doesn't have that many miles.

The only thing that I have not changed in awhile is the PCV valve, but its only been like 6,000 miles. That wouldn't throw a code anyway though, would it?

Try resetting the PCM and see if the code dissapears.

I had a similar problem, if it's running smoothly then you just have to wipe out the code. Go to any garage and they will be able to do it for you. Make sure they tell you what the code is though.

No need to go to a garage, just disconnect the battery for an hour or so.

I'd have the code cleared from the memory @ the shop (if you don't already have a scanner). If anything should happen in the future, you won't be wondering why that code is still in the memory. And like Dennis mentioned, have them tell you what the code was. Thanks guys for the help. I'll try to reset the PCM first, then if that doesn't work I'll take it to a shop to be cleared.

i went to my old high school shop and scanned it- multiple missfires. cleared the code, and shes running fine now. Im gonna pull and clean the plugs just to be safe. give that a try.
