  • engine restorer and lube with CSL

    anyone ever heard of this? I got it for free at auto parts since Im really cool with the manager. It says its supposed to seal up the dings and scratches inside of the cylinders and restore horsepower and so on. hopefully it works Im due at my oil change pretty soon and I was gonna use it.

    If you don't have a serious compression or oil usage problem, I'd probably return it. This crap is intended as more of a "last-ditch effort" product before you hire a real mechanic to fix what's wrong. In the short term it may work, but in the long term it will probably gunk up the inside of your motor something awful.

    I would NEVER use it in a motor that is working properly.

      I WOULD NEVER USE IT!! Unless your engine it totally crapped out. I had a buddy that used something like that, it clogged his oil ports and destroyed his engine. Return it and you and your car will be much happyer.

            Well, take into consideration all of the opinions above. Although you may use it all the time, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is helping your engine last longer....
            I have never used this product on any of my MANY of cars I've ever owned, and I've gotten well ovewr 100+k of miles out of the engines without probs. Changing the oil regularly, tune ups, ect. will make the engine last longer without too much worrying.

              I would poor it in the crankcase, then add Seafoam also. Then get some STP to add, then a good gas additive. Also squirt some WD-40 to the door hinges. Make sure you add some Green Slime to your tires. And above all, make sure you spray some of that shiney stuff on yout tires so they look good.

              For real, Seafoam is a good product.

                  I wouln't trust it, theres no such thing as "fix it in a can" I have used the engine restore a few times and that works good.

                      Sounds like what I call oil honey. That really thick crap that you add to a dieing engine to hold off the reaper. I used it a couple times in my 2.8 liter Grand Prix. Of course it had over 208,000 miles on it when I sold it. It did make it sound a little smoother. I'm going to say that it helped it, but I wouldn't add it to a low milage engine unless it needs it. I still see my old car every once in a while, so I don't think it was bad for it.
