  • Electrical Problem - PLEASE HELP !!!

It seems like there is a shortage somewhere in my car that is driving me CRAZY.
Here are some of the symtoms: the rear turn signal bulbs burnt, the sockets melted, a brake light also burnt, and one of the break lights on the hatch also burnt. The sockets, most of them, show signs of burning (black around them) and melting.
Also, when i turn my turn signals (left or right) they barely blink out of sync (sometimes they don't blink at all) and the rear lights also start going crazy.
Anybody has any advice as to what could be causing this before i take the car (and my whole wallet) to the dealer?
    Thanks for any help.

Did you run it without blinker fluid?

Sounds like you have one hell of a short somewhere in the rear harness. This is one of those things where the only way to figure it out is to get in there with your volt/ohm meter and look for shorts. You'll probably have to tear apart the harness until you find the problem. It is also of great benefit if you have the schematics to work with. Pay particular attention to those areas of the harness that are subject to movement (for example, where it routes through into the hatch) and edges that could cut into the harness.

I always break out into a sweat when electrical things go wrong cause its always a ton of work and requires lots of thought and reasoning.

      GOOD LUCK!!

I had the same problem and used some contact cleaner and some special electrical grease and have had no problems since.
