    Re: Water

it depends... if your system was flushed and then filled with dexcool run it with dexcool. but if you 've got the green stuff now i would just stay with that...don't mix them!

      Re: Water

So your saying that I can flush my radiator and fill it back up with Dexcool and it's be straight, and would Dexcool make my Chevy run cooler?

        Re: Water

dexcool gets bad reviews from most ppl around here, plus you would need to do a total flush to get all that stuff out.

        stick with the green.

          Re: Water

When I am doing a flush, I completely drain, and then fill with water and run it for a day. Then drain again and replace with 50/50 DEX-COOL.
It helps clear out any residual sludge.

My 97 uses DEX-COOL which is basically propylene glycol, since your user-name has a 98 in it, I assume you have a 98' maro, and should use DEX-COOL (red stuff).

But... if the stuff in your radiator is green, you have an ethylene glycol system, and using dex-cool without a complete flush first would cause big problems.

          EDIT:

TKO: The people who say green is better, also probably buy monster cables for their tv's (:P mmmm snake oil). It works the same, but the red stuff isn't toxic for humans and animals.
The green stuff has a sweet soda-like taste, and kids/animals will drink it. (especially dogs and cats if it pools on the ground) Red stuff isn't good to drink ether, but it doesn't taste good and won't kill you if you take a sip. (still a bad idea)
