  • Fuel pump HUM

When my motor is idling, such as coming to a stop, I hear a loud hum from the back of my car. When i accelerate it goes away instantly. I'm guessing that its my Fuel pump and I know a little whining sound is normal but this was a very noticable hum. It only really happens when the car is idle. I filled up the tank and the sound lessened a little bit but it is still there. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now and we have just hit 100 plus temp here in AZ. It this a sign my pump is about to go out or is this due to the heat? I do have 155k on my bird

    Thanks,

hows your filter? and yeh, you've got a couple miles so it might be on its way.
Is it a pleasant sounding hum or an holy-damn-whats-wrong-with-my-car kind of hum?

sounds like your sock is clogged and making your pump have to work harder

Your pump is going to fuel pump heaven. Replace it ASAP before it leaves you stranded.

I replaced mine on the side of the road (trap door cut) after ignoring the HUM for a few months. My replacment from Autozone is going out the door also...I have the hum periodically. So a replacement is due quickly.
