Yes, my steering wheel DOES unlock with the key in. What does that mean?

Mostly I was just curious.
it means at the very least you should still be able to drive your car if there was an emergency. hotwire! except once you take it in to get it fixed, they're probably going to think you stole it, lol. Bring your insurance papers or title or something.

From the owners manual:

Vats will disable the ignition for ~3 minutes if it thinks the wrong key has been inserted. EVEN IF you put your key back in after cleaning it, you need to wait the full 3 min between tries.

If you look into the key slot, you will see the two square spring-loaded contacts, if you can get some medium sandpaper in there to give them a quick cleaning, you'll be fine.


If you try a few cleanings/3 min waits and still nothing, then you need to look into the above methods.

I have my resistors all ready and have the panel off and found the wires. Next question is which of the two wires do I put the resistors on?

Also, do I need to have a new key made that does NOT have the resistor on the key?

no you do not have to get a new key made, you are bypassing the resistor on the key

and are you sure you hear your oil pump priming?

i did mine last nite just follow the guides available and test the resister set you made or make then once its cranks and your all happy seals your set up with heat shirnk rubber or what ever you call it and your good go mine runs great but im getting a check engine light??

i get of work late so ill have to wait for autozone i dont know what it could be b4 this happend the car ran perfect after the whole security light problem i did not run the car for 2 days but it could be anything like allways
