Interesting... perhaps I'll check the dip stick in a couple hundred miles and make the call.

Re: Do I have too many miles to use seafoam?

i have never heard of seafoam hurting a vehicle.

the 3800 has some pretty tight tolerances. ive used it a few times on my car. got a lot of carbon out of the intake and out the exhaust.

seafoam works really fast. it has only helped all vehicles i ahve ever used it on.

people need to understand that engines wear down, things get "smaller" and dirt and grime fill the places where the metal used to be before it wore down

when you put a cleaner in your engine, you are taking all of that *good* dirt away, which causes more play and wear in the engine.

i have had first hand experience with this, and its not the first time i have said it on this forum and have been criticized for it.. i dont really care, i know it is totally possible to happen, and i dont like people doing things to hurt their cars

for instance, a friend was putting spark plugs in his car and he was wrenching down them, i told him you dont need to put them that tight at all, he didnt listen, and had to have his car towed to a shop so they could get the plug out

another time is m stupid neighbor, she would rev her car up to around 5krpm on startup, sometimes it would make a loud *** bang noise, god knows what that was, but i told her she shouldnt do that.. she didnt listen to me, and last winter i witnessed her car being towed away, never to be seen again.. im pretty damn sure she ruined the engine from cold starts with no oil, especially in temperatures below 10 degrees

you guys can do whatever you want to your car, i dont really care, im just giving my opinion on what i think you should or shouldnt do

I'm not criticizing you. I appreciate your opinion and will assimilate it into my decisions.

I didn't see anything on the can about changing the oil in 200 miles. Anywho, isn't the oil filter there to catch anything in the oil?
you want to replace your oil 200ish miles after seafoaming...if you dont you will have problems. all the crap that it cleans off in your engine is now in your oil, so you have to get clean oil in there.

please for the sake of you engine change the oil soon

As of now, there is only 30 miles on the Sea Foam. So, I'm guessing it would have been a better idea to do this closer to when an oil change was due.

i think i did it at like 150 miles just to be safe. it was still pitch black, plus my car smoked out tons of carbon. sea foam ftw if used in the proper application.

So I should have seafoamed my car before I got the turbo in because I knew of the dirty intake manifold. I'm kinda scared it might hurt the turbo if I do it now.. if something of any size gets loose and through the valves. Hm. If anyone that knows could disprove this idea let me know because otherwise I'm gonna have to go through more trouble taking the turbo off and routing some kind of pipe out of the engine bay. gah.

You ain't joking about this stuff. At 30 miles, I looked at my oil and it's already near black.

It works pretty quickly. Then again, I had it in my oil a little over 100 miles and it came out the same color as it was going in. But I believe the previous owner used some sort of treatment in the oil.

Now running it through the top end was a completely different story. What a smoke show.

Ok so i just seafoamed my car and it set off two codes, P0102 (MAF circuit low input), and P0300 (Random/Multiple cylinder misfire) has anyone had this issue? Is it just that the seafoam shocked the system so that it thinks that these things are wrong but they aren't really (wishful thinking)? O and my car has 105k miles

What part did you Sea Foam? If you blasted the throttle body without removing the MAF sensor, then that could be the first code. There should be a way to clean it. I remember reading something around here. The P0300 could be your spark plugs. The smoke and carbon that the Sea Foam clears out can settle on your spark plugs and foul them up, causing a misfire. It's recommended to replace spark plugs after seafoaming, so check them and replace any that have gone bad.

x's two. seafoaming gives an huge chance of fouling out plugs. and yeah...not supposed to hit the MAF with anything ever except air haha
