i turned it on and about a mile later i could hear this pssssshhhhh noise. so i turned off my AC and the noise went away. i sounded like it was coming from the passanger floor area. what do you guys think it was?

well, i didnt look outside when it happened, i looked where i heard the noise and no, i didnt see a puff of white smoke. i would have freaked out if i did. i have a problem with getting gased

the 'psssssshhhh' noise could be the refrigerant expanding inside the evaporator core. i get a similar noise for the first minute or so when i turn my a/c on. you could also have a leak in the vacuum system that runs the vent doors.
