I just think they have a additive for higher mileage vehicles, not motor oil. There is nothing wrong in putting in syn. in a higher mileage vehicle unless it has leaks already, then the syn. will probably leak even more since it is thinner weight. I like it for the protection for my parts since I run nitrous sometimes.

My owners manaul doesn't have a nitrous section to where it tells me to change my oil , spark plugs and fuel filter after spraying a 125 shot of nitrous a few times inbetween check ups. So I change it when I think it needs to. I also was thinking viscosity(my bad).

If you have an oil leak you should fix it, right? Having synthetic show you that there is one or where would help you out I'd think.

one immediate benefit i can see is saving money by increasing the oil change interval...
i say it i risky because he is looking for more leaks, or a worse one if he already has it

im sorry, but oil still gets dirty, synthetic oil will be just as dirty as non synthetic at 3k miles, the ONLY difference is the synthetic can protect the engine longer even though it is dirty

why would you want to introduce more dirt into your engine?

take a look at people who really care for their engines (well, newer ones) they will run synthetic oil with oil change intervals between 2.5k and 5k miles

Whatever you do, if you switch check your oil every fill up until your first oil change. If you've got a leak it will show up. In itself a leak shouldn't hurt the engine but no oil will. I also noticed that when I switch back, it continued to burn more oil. Who knows what caused what.
