Car key problems

Hey guys I recentley had a car that didn't crank if you read my starter thread. I recentley had all of my wiring checked and the problems aren't in the wires. What my boy who works on cars was saying that my key was worn out and thats was why it wasn't cranking. I wanted to know is that a possible problem for the car just clicking and not starting?

and my car has 300,000 miles so maybe that is logical you think?

my car clicks about 5 to 8 times before it cranks,,i had that problem almost 4 jears now,,,but since it still starts my car,,i will fix that when it really fails,,,the mecanic told me that it was a ``dead`` spot on the starter armature

Nahh man my car clicks about 3 times on 3 cranks then when I turn the key again nothing happens it's like it won't even click anymore
