• How much would a dealer charge for a spark plug and wire swap

I don't know if I feel like trying to do it myself.

DO it yourself its a joke... I cut custom heat sheathing, msd wires, and the plugs, my first time ever doing them on my 2000 in 45 minutes in a parking lot. Cost me liek $70 for everything.

    Dealer? I am assiming $250-400

The Chevy dealer I spoke to will do a spark plug and wire change and throw in a fuel injector flush all for $500.
Do it yourself and save the money for gas, your favorite six pack of beer & a pizza lol.

he has a 2000 with tubular manifolds, not even sure he needs a 6 pack, just pick up 2 tall boys and a Hot pocket. You'll probably be done before you finish them

well alright, i will have to try it. Is this a reason why i am getting 22 mpg, even when i coast down hills in neutral to save gas?

there is no telling what is causing your poor mpg and if you want to know what a dealership would charge, call them....a phonebook ;)

i get 22mpg with city/freeway driving. If I am just on the freeway i get about 30 mpg.

the spark plugs are very easy. i doubt you need new spark plug wires. if you do get wires get quality brand...made to fit your car or else you will be sizing and crimping them.

the only hard part is wigglig the boots off of the spark plug. twist them back and forth and pull from the boot.

from reading your post i think you may have not changed spark plugs before. if so...take your time putting them back in. start them by hand. don't cross the threads. use the socket and an extension and tighten them by hand. then put the socket wrench on and tighten them until they just get snug...and then a tiny bit more. they should not be super tight...just tight. also do one spark plug at a time.

maybe just do plugs first and then see how your engine runs. clean your k and n if it has been a while. oh, yea...use a spark plug socket...not a normal socket.

I am sure you could find a web site that covers changing spark plugs. it is easy...but if you have never done it before then there are wrong ways and right ways and better ways to do it.
